Miranda Mallard's Snowy Arrival

Miranda arrives at our welcome mat by our swimming pool on a snowy Spring day.

About the site

This site is about Miranda the Mallard from Moose Jaw, a children's book by Marlene Muir-Chase which was published in 2009.

Moose Jaw is the name of a small city in the province of Saskatchewan on the prairies of Canada.

A quote from the author...

WHAT WOULD YOU DO if a duck suddenly flew into your yard, quacking loudly, seeming to claim this space as her own?

You would likely feed her some bread, claim her as your duck, and give her a name. Marlene and Bill did just that. This led to many new adventures with Miranda the Mallard from Moose Jaw.

We always wonder why she chose our yard to nest in for almost ten years. How did she find her way back to our yard every spring? Did she know she could depend on us for safety?

We love that duck!
